Paired with a tie, it’s perfect for dress-up, and with the cuffs rolled up it’s great for work and play. The shirt can be worn under a sport coat or over a t-shirt, depending on the occasion. The pattern can also be used to make great shirts for girls as well.

    Suggested Fabrics

    Use light- to medium-weight woven fabrics like quilter’s cottons, broadcloth, gingham, shirtings. Pre-wash and dry prior to cutting and sewing.

    I made the shirt in sizes 2 and 4 and was very pleased with the outcome. The pattern was excellent value for the price! I will be able to use it as my grandsons grow, it is easily customized to different body types, and is a classic enduring design. The detail in the design is outstanding for children's patterns. This is the first pattern I have ever downloaded and found it to be a simple straight forward process, and considering the fantastic outcome, it is something I will consider in the future. I found the instructions and illustrations to be very helpful and easily understood. The only modification I made was to set in the sleeves after giving the sleeve and side seams a 1/2 inch seam allowance so I could make a French seam in these areas.

    This pattern yields a very professional-looking shirt, with a great fit! It has every little detail that a purchased men's dress shirt would have; collar on a stand, beautiful cuff placket (which looks so confusing but all it is is a little folding magic-easy-peasy) . I made the smallest size and, unlike some other little boy shirt patterns I've tried, everything is perfectly to scale; the collar does not overwhelm the wearer. The instructions include a lot of illustrations and are easy to follow and make sense of. Also, I love the multiple length options for shirt and sleeves, makes it very easy to customize the fit. The only thing I don't really like is the 1/4 inch seam allowance, I'd rather sew with 1/2 inch then trim my seams. I am planning to try the men's Marco shirt next.
