    Description

You’ll love the versatility of these wide, pleated culottes. Dressy enough to wear to work as a full skirt yet comfy enough for a day of running errands in town, these flattering pants can even be worn for more recreational activities like biking and hiking. Featuring front and back inverted box pleats, plus front pleats and back darts, these culottes aren’t short on style. They are designed to be midilength but can be lengthened or shortened as desired. They also include a button or hook and eye at the waistband, hidden side pockets, and a side zipper. But relax, these impressive details are a cinch to sew.

    Suggested Fabrics

Depending on the look you want to create, this pattern is suitable for soft fabrics like double gauze, lawn, and voile, or more crisp fabrics like linen, twill, broadcloth, denim, chambray, gabardine, and even fine-wale corduroy.

    Notions

Coordinating thread, 7" zipper, lightweight fusible interfacing for waistband (woven interfacing is best), one 1/2" button or large hook and eye.

      Great Pattern
Reviewed by Jane ( Verified Buyer) on 09/07/2016
Still to make this pattern. Printed out easily and thanks to other reviews I shouldn't have a problem with it. I used to sew for myself many years ago and now want to get back into it. I chose the culottes pattern as I used to love wearing them when younger - pants & a skirt all in one - perfect for our hot climate.

      Very happy

I haven't made anything for me for probably over 30 years - more interested in making for grandchildren and quilting these days. So I was quitenervous about fit and sizing, etc., but I followed the advice in the pattern to make them according to waist size and it turned out perfectly. These culottes resemble the style of a skirt I used to love with the pleat at the front, so they really appealed to me and I have not been disappointed. I made them in a Robert Kaufman chambray dot indigo. The instructions were excellent, very detailed, even a skilled sewer needs reminding of little tips now and again but, to a novice sewer, they would be enormously helpful. The pattern printed out well and I traced the pattern onto Trace and Toile interfacing once I had taped it all together - much easier to cut out and store. I'm definitely going to make these again.

I really like this pattern, it's quick and easy to sew, the instructions are easy to follow, and the result is great. I made it of linen and I love to wear it on these hot summer days. I am already looking for another material to sew it again.

The pattern is great! I never thought I would make something like this, but was actually quite easy and quick to sew. It's BRILLIANT the way the zipper is placed inside the pockets. Fit is great!

      Surprise culottes
    Reviewed by Jane on 02/09/2015
Culottes were never something I would have thought to wear but something about this pattern appealed to me. I made these up in a dressweight dark denim and they came together beautifully - I am not a very experienced dressmaker but I managed these with little difficulty. Loving wearing them and can see me making many more pairs.

      A lot of work !
Reviewed by Carolyn Wells on 02/04/2015
I have no problem with sewing the pattern yet because I haven't started yet but I can tell you getting it printed was a royal pain in the hinnie parts. The FedEx computer couldn't read it so we had to do a work around. Then the print out was quite a thing to behold. Thick paper in a roll. I'm just not enjoying the digital thing. Your regular patterns are wonderful. Computer version....not so much. Too much involved for me .

An Easy Sew With Complicated Looking Results
Reviewed by Jill Starrett on 01/18/2015
Pants pattern with pleats, pockets, zipper, and fitted waistband...sounds hard! It really isn't. There are only four pattern pieces and Liesl walks you though each step with clear instructions and diagrams. I feel the pair I made are too large in the waist but I don't think it is the fault of the pattern. Someone with an hourglass figure should have no issue with the amount of ease in the waist, but someone who is straighter or squishier in the middle may want to go with a size that allows for zero wearing ease in the waist.

      good pattern
    Reviewed by pia on 12/19/2014
This is a good pattern for culottes. I made them with a heavy cotton, and they worked out well. This was probably the most challenging pattern I have undertaken, working out the waistband was probably the trickiest bit for me. Glad to have made them.
