One thing that Oliver + S patterns do really well is teach new skills as you sew them. \u00a0I’ve heard many people describe them as a “sewing class in an envelope,” and I know I’ve said it myself! \u00a0The more Oliver + S patterns you sew, the more skills you pick up. \u00a0If I want to learn a particular new technique (welt pocket, invisible zipper, lining, setting in a sleeve), I can rely on Liesl’s clear and concise instructions to get me there. \u00a0I can then apply the skills I learn to other things I sew. Once the technique is clear in my head, it becomes second nature to me.<\/p>\n

There are a lot of sewing resolutions floating around this month, it being the new year and all. \u00a0Some people have vowed to finally<\/em> tackle buttonholes, zippers, plackets, knits, etc.–that pesky skill they want to learn but have been avoiding for too long.\u00a0 Well, I’m here to help with that!<\/p>\n

As my new year’s gift to you, I’ve compiled an index of sewing skills and the Oliver\u00a0+\u00a0S pattern that teaches that particular skill.<\/p>\n
