Here’s another Yanaka Jacket<\/a>, this time a little furry and slouchy, using the same easy lining technique I used for my wool-and-neoprene jacket in my last post<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This was another fabric from my favorite online fabric store<\/a>. (And it’s also sold out already, sorry!). It’s like a high-pile velvet, almost furry, originally from Anne Demeulemeester, cotton, and the paisley-ish print and rich colors grabbed my attention right away.<\/p>\n

Because the back of this fabric is white and without much body, it also needed a lining, which is easy enough with the quick method I told you about<\/a>. It would have been even EASIER if I had remembered to topstitch the facings to the lining BEFORE I assembled the jacket instead of realizing it after the jacket was assembled. Hand basting was not going to be enough to keep the facings in place long term (obviously), so there were a lot of contortions on my part to machine-stitch the facing to the lining through the side seam opening AFTER the jacket was turned right-side out…\u00a0 (Insert eye roll here…)<\/p>\n

I considered interfacing this fabric to give it a little more body, but the softness and slouchiness of the finished jacket makes it very cozy and easy to wear. It’s a very different look and feeling from the wool and neoprene version, that’s for sure! I’m wearing it mostly with jeans, but the colors coordinate with all the camel colors in my wardrobe, and I also love it with this burgundy silk bias-cut<\/a> Garibaldi skirt<\/a>. Plus, with the black background, this jacket coordinates with almost everything I own.<\/p>\n
