Ah, Halloween. Time for all sorts of crafty endeavors, including your most creative sewing!<\/p>\n

I’m always amazed at the variety of clever costumes, from the simplest to the most elaborate, that people create for this crazy holiday. And you’re no exception. Many of you have posted some amazing costumes that you’ve sewn using our patterns. I’ve collected some of them in a Halloween sewing with Oliver + S Pinterest board<\/a>, so if you’re looking for a little inspiration (or a lot of inspiration!) you could start there.<\/p>\n

Quite a few of you have used the Cozy Bear Hood from Little Things to Sew<\/a> to make some great costumes. Kristin of Skirt as Top<\/a> used it to make this darling Elephant costume for her daughter. (Click through to see the elephant’s trunk! It’s completely adorable.)<\/p>\n

You can also get creative with already-existing items, just adding a few extras to make a great costume.<\/p>\n

I love these two characters. Frankenstein is wearing street clothes with cool (handmade?) headwear, and the fox costume was sewn by Lesley<\/a> using the Red Riding Hood Cape from Little Things to Sew<\/a>, which is a quick pattern that’s also used to make a lot of great costumes. (Incidentally, Lesley told me she’s using the cape pattern again this year to make a squirrel costume! I can’t wait to see it.)<\/p>\n

If you have a little more time to sew and want to make something really sweet and special for your little cutie, there are some amazing Fairy Tale Dress<\/a>-based costumes out there, too, like this Tinkerbell costume<\/a> that Melanie made last year. Pretty spectacular, yes?<\/p>\n

What are you planning for Halloween sewing at your house? I hope you’ll show us on the Flickr group<\/a>. I’ll add them to the Pinterest board<\/a> when I see them pop up, too!<\/p>\n

Oh yes. And what are we doing at our place? Last night S announced that she wants to be an abstract painting for Halloween this year. (Where does that girl come up with this stuff?)
