{"id":78100,"date":"2021-12-13T08:09:42","date_gmt":"2021-12-13T13:09:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oliverands.com\/community\/?p=78100"},"modified":"2021-12-13T08:09:42","modified_gmt":"2021-12-13T13:09:42","slug":"three-reasons-to-split-your-sleeve-into-two-pieces","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/oliverands.com\/community\/blog\/2021\/12\/three-reasons-to-split-your-sleeve-into-two-pieces.html","title":{"rendered":"three reasons to split your sleeve into two pieces"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hello friends!<\/p>\n<p>Just for the fun of it, here&#8217;s a fun, quick little post and video to inspire you the next time you get ready to cut a pattern that includes sleeves.<\/p>\n<p>A while ago I purchased a knit top that had a seam down the center of the sleeve, and it got me thinking about all the reasons you might want to do the same. Here are a few ideas:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>For design reasons. Use the seam to color block or to add a decorative seam. Hand embroidery, <a href=\"https:\/\/oliverands.com\/community\/blog\/2015\/05\/heirloom-techniques-for-the-butterfly-blouse.html\">entredeux<\/a> (here&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/oliverands.com\/community\/blog\/2018\/11\/heirloom-afternoon-tea-blouse-tutorial.html\">another nice tutorial for it<\/a>), a fancy stitch on your machine to decorate the seam, or even a slot seam would all be fun ways to use this idea.<\/li>\n<li>If you&#8217;re running low on fabric and need to squeeze the sleeve out of smaller pieces. Sleeves take a lot of fabric, so you might be able to conserve fabric by dividing the sleeve into two smaller pieces.<\/li>\n<li>And maybe most important, if you want to add room for a full bicep a seam can allow you to widen the sleeve to add that extra room.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a little video to show you how to make these changes.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"720\" height=\"405\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-YbLYdnQdSY\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>I hope you enjoy!
