I’ve been dreaming of a little capsule wardrobe using some easy-to-sew Liesl + Co. patterns, and one that’s a slight bit more involved. I thought I’d find some fun fabric choices and share my ideas with you.<\/p>\n

Stripes are my favorite, and they’re a natural pairing for the Maritime Knit Top<\/a> pattern. I sewed a striped one a few years ago, but then I ruined it with spray foam while plugging rodent holes in my garage. I really love this orange and white striped St. James knit from Mood Fabrics<\/a> for it. I can see this top going with jeans and a denim or utility canvas skirt.<\/p>\n

I’ve been dreaming of a denim Extra-Sharp Pencil Skirt literally for years. I can’t believe I haven’t sewn one yet. I think I need to just declare that I’m going to do that before 2022 and then you guys can hold me accountable. I think I’ll use a stashed stretch denim similar to this\u00a0<\/a>one<\/u><\/span><\/span>. The pattern doesn’t call for stretch fabrics, but I like the feel of a slightly stretchy pencil skirt (and my tummy likes it too).<\/p>\n

I said I liked stripes, didn’t I? This cotton\/polyester\u00a0French terry<\/a>\u00a0would make a really cozy Bento Tee<\/a>. I’d lengthen it to tunic length and wear it with skinny jeans or leggings.<\/p>\n

Finally, I really love the shade and subtle striping of this rayon twill<\/a>. Rayon twill is a little heftier than challis, while maintaining that lovely drape. I think this would make a beautiful Afternoon Tea Blouse<\/a> that I could wear with the denim pencil skirt or with jeans and booties. And as I was creating this collage, it occurred to me that the blouse would make an adorable swingy dress if I lengthened it. Has anyone tried that yet? In this fabric, I think it would make a stunning holiday party dress for warmer climes.<\/p>\n

I have some other inspiration on the brain too, but it involves the next batch of patterns, which we can’t wait to show you!<\/p>\n
