The lovely ladies from Project Run and Play<\/a> asked me to talk to you a bit about the Popover Sundress pattern<\/a>, which is the featured pattern right now for Season 7. And of course I’m more than happy to oblige! This is such a simple pattern: an easy A-line sundress with an fold-over yoke and bias straps that finish the armholes and tie at the shoulders. I love to sandwich rickrack<\/a> in the yoke seam for a cute little scalloped detail, but there are so many other opportunities for embellishment! Here are a few ideas for you that don’t require dramatic alterations to the original pattern:<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

1. A gigantic vertical ruffle down the center front. This would be a darling dressy dress, in a silk with lots of body so it could sustain the shape of the ruffle.<\/p>\n

2. A color-blocked<\/a> version of the dress, with pockets at the side seams. Or if you feel ambitious, use the on-seam pockets from the Book Report Dress<\/a> to fit right into that color-blocked seam so they don’t show at all!<\/p>\n

3. Shorten the dress into a cute little top and add pintucks to the front for a sweet detail. (Looks cute with the Lazy Days Skirt<\/a>, too!)<\/p>\n

4. Shorten the dress into a top and add a ruffle, turning it into an adorable tunic to work with leggings.<\/p>\n

\"popover-options-2\"<\/a>5. Add little vertical ruffles to the front, and pockets with a similar ruffle at the top.<\/p>\n

6. Color-block<\/a> the dress with a wide racing stripe or vertical stripes down the front and back!<\/p>\n

7. Lengthen the dress and add a ruffle to turn it into a dramatic nightgown.<\/p>\n

\"popover-options-3\"<\/a>8. Determine the perfect length for the shoulder straps and seam the bias instead of tying it. Color-block<\/a> the dress, adding a seam down the center front so you can chevron some pieced stripes!<\/p>\n

9. Add ribbon details to the yoke and skirt, including little matching ribbon bows<\/a>.<\/p>\n

10. Add a big applique<\/a> to the dress!<\/p>\n
