As I plan for the hotter months ahead I\u2019ve found myself reaching for <a href=\"https:\/\/oliverands.com\/shop\/digital-seashore-bloomers-sewing-pattern.html\">Seashore Bloomers<\/a> over and over again for my little girl. I love this pattern; sometimes the simplest patterns are the best. I\u2019ve been enjoying these bloomers so much that I wanted to make them into a complete outfit for my little one to enjoy during the hot months. If you want to make a pair for yourself I\u2019ll show you the steps.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preparing the Pattern<\/strong><br \/>\nI used the Seashore Bloomers pattern (size 18-24 months) as a starting point for my bloomeralls. First, cut \u00bd inch off the top of both the front and the back pattern pieces since we will be using a waistband facing instead of folding it over.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/oliverands.com\/community\/content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_7297.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-69136\" src=\"\/\/o.osimg.net\/community\/content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/IMG_7297-760x471.jpg\" alt=\"Oliver + S Seashore Bloomers\" width=\"760\" height=\"471\" 760px) 100vw, 760px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Next, cut out the front and back pieces from your fabric using the modified pattern.<\/p>\n<p>You will also need a couple extra pieces:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cut two 3 inch by 16 inch shoulder straps, 16 inches is quite long, but you can trim the shoulder straps to the correct length at the end of the process<\/li>\n<li>Cut a 1 \u00bc inch by 30 inches (or longer) waistband facing<\/li>\n<li>A piece for the bib, described next<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To make the bib pattern piece, cut out a rectangle 5 \u00bd inches by 4 inches out of tracing paper.<\/p>\n<p><a 760px) 100vw, 760px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Draw a line an inch in from one of the 5 \u00bd inch sides and then use a French curve to create a smooth curve between the top of the rectangle and the bottom, 760px) 100vw, 760px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Assembling the Bloomeralls<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Constructing the Bib<\/strong><br \/>\nSew the two bib pieces, right sides together, with a \u00bd inch seam allowance across the sides and the top. Adhere two small circles (about the size of a half-dollar) of fusible interfacing at the corners on one side, this is where you will be making the button holes later. Create the casing for the elastic around the leg holes according to the pattern instructions. Baste the shoulder straps at this point angling them slightly so they will crisscross on the back.<\/p>\n<p><a Edgestitch the bottom of the waistband around the entire back but not under the bib. This creates a casing for the elastic. To get the strap length right it helps if you can try the bloomeralls on the recipient.
