The Lisette for Butterick B6169 moto jacket pattern was released a couple of years ago, and it is still a popular make! Allie sewed herself a really cute version and she\u2019s here to tell you more about it. We are so happy to have you here, Allie!<\/em><\/p>\n

\nDid the fabric work well?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yes! I had this pattern and fabric picked out for months before I started the project because I wasn’t sure how to treat the boucle. I ended up quilting it to muslin for stability, so this jacket actually has three layers–the boucle, muslin interlining, and bemberg rayon lining. I think it’s so fun to mix an edgy pattern, like this motorcycle-inspired jacket, with a very ladylike fabric like cream boucle (although I think it would amazing in black wool too!).<\/p>\n

\"Lisette<\/a><\/p>\n

How did the sewing go?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Before I started sewing, I made some pattern alterations to add the ruffle or peplum to the side and back of the jacket (you can read my blog post for lots of details). After I had all my new peplum pattern pieces ready, and my fabric quilted to the muslin, the sewing was super easy! The instructions are well written and give a very professional result. The only change I made was to bag the jacket lining. I just discovered this technique, and I’m now obsessed with it. \"Lisette<\/a><\/p>\n

What was the best part?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The best part of any project is wearing it, don’t you agree? I felt great in my new jacket and when a friend commented “are you wearing anything you made today?” I was able to tell her that I made my pants, cami, and jacket–my whole outfit! The best part of sewing was how beautifully the back facing and back lining went together, and the back facing matching up perfectly with the front facing. It’s the little details.<\/p>\n
