Camelia is a big fan of sewing coats and she\u2019s so talented at it. She stopped by a couple of months ago to share her Lisette B6385 coat<\/a>. She\u2019s here now to give us the scoop on her newest Lisette coat.<\/em><\/p>\n

\nPattern used:<\/strong> Lisette for Butterick B6423<\/a>
\nFabric used:<\/strong> A beautiful blue wool and a border print crepe backed satin for the lining. This satin was actually too nice to be hidden but I knew that I was making a design I love so no regrets.<\/p>\n

Did the fabric work well?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I think the good answer is: almost. While I love this fabric, color, weight and everything, I do think that for this coat it was just a bit too thick for the back pleat.<\/p>\n

\"Lisette<\/a><\/p>\n

How did the sewing go?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I knew that the style was boxy, but after making the muslin in size medium I just had the feeling that the coat will be too big so I decided to make a size Small for the upper part and blending to Medium from waist down. The instructions where great, with illustrations and everything, but because I don\u2019t like to waste time when I am sewing, I changed the order of construction a little bit to be able to sew the lining completely on the sewing machine. For pressing I used my iron on the wool stand, a lot of steam, a piece of silk organza as a pressing cloth and a clapper. I am really happy that I did not get any marks on my seams.<\/p>\n

\"Lisette<\/a><\/p>\n

What was the best part?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The best part is that I used two fabrics I love in a design that I really enjoy wearing. It was a really easy to sew pattern, I just can’t resist a pattern with interesting design elements. I am going to make this coat again, in a lighter fabric, for the spring.<\/p>\n
