The Lisette for Butterick B6169 Moto Jacket has been such a popular make. If you plan on sewing one in the future you’ll want to follow Liesl’s fantastic sew-along<\/a>. Each moto jacket turns out as unique as it’s maker. Here’s yet another one we wanted to be sure to share with you.<\/em><\/p>\n

\nFabric used:<\/strong> Textured brocade in a teal reptile print from Mood. Lined with a hammered polyester charmeuse purchased locally.

\nDid the fabric work well?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yes! This fabric was a delight to sew, took a press beautifully, and was well suited for a moto jacket. I liked the details of this pattern, such as the lack of a collar, the 2-piece sleeve, and the fact that it has ample bust ease, a lining, and shoulder pads. To complement the fabric, I purchased zippers, cut to length, with black tape and chunky teal teeth.<\/p>\n

How did the sewing go?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I made quite a few alterations, as I always do, for fit. (My figure requires what I call Extreme Pattern Hacking.) I also made a few design changes, such as adding angled zipper pockets, using the reverse side of the fabric on the facings so it folds back to black, and adding 5″ zippers with gussets to the sleeve hems.<\/p>\n

Once my alterations were done, the pattern came together very quickly! I had no issues.<\/p>\n

What was the best part?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The best part is wearing it! I made this jacket as part of my core wardrobe for my recent trip to Paris and Munich. It was a perfect addition: comfy and perfect for layering with the coats and raincoat that I brought.<\/p>\n
