Hello, friends! The calendar says spring is arriving here in New York, but we’re under the threat of six more inches of snow tonight. We’re all pretending that we can grin and bear it, but we’re really all ready for some warmer weather already.<\/p>\n

I’ve been busy sewing all week to get ready for our Lisette sew-alongs. Yesterday I gave a sneak peek<\/a> of the fabrics I’ve chosen for each of the styles we’ll be making, and today I’ll be explaining and demystifying the size question. Check in at the Lisette blog<\/a> for details.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, at our place we’re all busy planning for upcoming travel. Todd is headed to California and Utah next week, and S and I will be headed “home” the following week during spring break. I’m really looking forward to spending time with my parents and sister, who also lives in Madison. My mom broke her elbow really badly a couple of weeks ago, and my dad will have just returned from a very long trip to Antarctica and the Amazon (during which time he got shingles, poor guy), so we’ll have a lot to talk about. I’m also hoping to spend time with friends who I’ve been missing. It will be a nice break, I think.<\/p>\n

Pinterest Picks<\/strong><\/p>\n

Last fall some friends and I got together in the the studio to do some indigo dyeing, and I tossed in some cotton lace fabric that turned out beautifully. I think I’ll use it to sew a Metro Tee<\/a> for this spring. And I’ll wear it with an Everyday Skirt<\/a>, styled like this with a half tuck<\/a> and a narrow belt.<\/p>\n

When I pinned this image I suggested that it would be a cute way to sew the Pinwheel Dress<\/a>. But Tricia suggested that it would work even better with the Carousel Dress<\/a> pattern. I agree! Wouldn’t it be fun to do a really full sheer ruffle like this?<\/p>\n

Also on my sewing-for-me list is a long jacket made using the Weekend Getaway Dress<\/a> pattern. I think it pulls together an outfit so nicely. (I mentioned this idea earlier, yes?)<\/p>\n
