One of the best parts about teaching sewing classes, I think, is getting to meet the students who attend. Whenever I do a class or workshop, I always try to schedule\u00a0a little time to sit and chat (usually over lunch or while people are sewing) so I can listen to the students talk about themselves and what they do.<\/p>\n

A little more than a year ago, I taught a class at Spool in Philadelphia. During that class I met Hillary Frank, who was pregnant at the time and was working in public radio. Hillary’s daughter is almost one year old now, and Hillary recently contacted me about a podcast, called The Longest Shortest Time<\/a>, that she has started for new parents.<\/p>\n

I love the concept behind The Longest Shortest Time. Hillary describes it as “a bedside companion for new moms who want to hear in the middle of the night (or day\u2014what\u2019s the difference, really?) that they are not alone. And that as never-ending as those first months seem, they don\u2019t last forever.” Where was something like this when I was a new mother?<\/p>\n

Anyway, Hillary invited me to talk with her for the site, and she’s now posted our discussion as her third podcast. You can listen to our conversation there<\/a>.<\/p>\n
