Since no one else is jumping in here, I can only offer a bit of insight from lengthening things, which is that when you change the length, the width (or circumference) changes a bit too. So my tendency in the case of shortening a sleeve would be to do it in a way that ensures the sleeve is the width you want at various points on the arm. Not sure if this is relevant for the pattern you’re using.

For what it’s worth, I didn’t find that information on the pattern I bought either. I usually need an extra inch or two (or three) spread through the torso, and so I look for waist length info. The best I could do was to measure the pattern and hope for the best!

Others here have spoken of making a muslin, which I admire but will never be organized or patient enough to do 🙂

Thank Liesl; sorry to be slow to respond. That helps to figure out how much I should lengthen the bodice. It’s a slight problem that the pattern measurements don’t specify what the finished waist length is in each size. I lengthen as a matter of course anyway, but it’s sometimes hard to know how much!

Oh, I can’t believe I didn’t think of that! Thank you so much.
I should probably be working on a muslin instead of with the good fabric instead, but you’ve given me a better chance of getting it right first time 🙂
