I sewed on the sleeve placket but I am having a hard time folding at the top so it isn’t bunched. I’ll try to resew. Please let me know if anyone knows what I am doing wrong.

I thought I had to put the buttonhole markings on the front of the dress (in addition to the plackets). That is why I was so confused and made no sense 🙂

Thank you for all your help. The sew-along is so helpful. I live in southern Maine and would be happy to meet other sewers in my area.

sayiamyou – The first picture helps I think. But the second picture confuses me because it looks like the right and left plackets are switched? Are both pictures the right side of the dress? Thank you for helping me figure this out. I am tempted to skip marking and just follow directions and see what makes sense but I know markings are important.

Thanks – if you look at the right side of the placket, they are on the right side of the riight side of the placket, if you divide the placket in half.

no but thank you – to me it looks like I could have the markings closer to the center of the dress, or further from the center? do I lay the placket wrong side down when transferring or the other way? I could show a picture if I could figure out how to do it.

Thank you. Someone (Elizabeth) was nice enough to send me pictures and I ended up hand stitching. On to the next step!

Thank you for responding I am making a size 3 and I wouldn’t mind hand sewing. But what I still can’t wrap my brain around is how I am sewing the sleeve lining to the sleeve. My understanding (thought it is probably wrong) is that I am sewing the lining (folded under 1/2) to the inside of the sleeve and that it is going to cover the seam of where I already top stitched. Am I in the right ballpark and how do I do that? I think I understand it if I was just hemimng the sleeve but the lining is throwing me off. I am at the part right before it says finish the jacket (or something like that).

Hi – I’m Christine. I’ve been sewing with Oliver and S patterns for about a year and just started using these forums. Why did I take so long? I recognize a lot of people from Flickr and their blogs but thought I’d still say “hi” here. I sew for my 2 1/2 year old girl and my 4 year old boy. I love sewing (especially with Oliver + S patterns) and I love being a part of the online community and getting to know other people who sew. Connecting with others who sew is as much fun as sewing in my opinion. Thanks for all your help!
