Pants front pocket placement

Hi, all - I'm thinking about picking this pattern up, so I flipped through the Flickr archives to see what it looks like in various sizes and fabrics. What kept jumping out at me was the placement of the front pocket, or maybe the width of the waistband. The pockets look so low! Is that just my perception, or has anyone had their child complain about low pockets? To be honest, it's a non-issue for now as my son is an infant, but I'm thinking longer-term.
