I want to lower the neckline on my metro shirt. Is there anything I need to consider before I just cut out a deeper scoop? Is there a particular ratio to keep in mind for circumference of neck opening to length of collar band? I appreciate any feedback.

If you run a tape measure around the front and back neck on the original pattern pieces, and then the original neck and piece, you can work out the ratio.

Then measure your new neckhole, apply the same factor and cut your new neck band.

Whenever I’ve made my own neckhole in knit sewing I’ve just measured the hole and cut my neckband one inch shorter. That has always worked to date, but you might be better off doing it the maths way.
