I'm cutting this pattern right now in Liberty and feeling stingy about the fabric. I plan to line the dress with a cotton voile, but don't think I have quite enough to cut the hem facings on the bias. How necessary is the hem facing to this pattern? The skirt doesn't look all that curved. Would a traditional hem work just as well? If not, how about some ribbon or high quality bias tape for the hem facing?
This is to be baby girl's first Easter dress, so while I don't want to waste good fabric, I also want it to be done right.
