Hi – I’m just about to cut out the puppet show tunic from a lovely Marc Jacobs gingham. I was wondering if I could cut the contrast panels on the bias. What do you think?

    Thanks!

I agree it would look lovely , stretching may be a problem but if the bodice lining is cut on the grain that should support it.

I made a shirt once and bias cut the single layer back yoke , it was stretching a little so I used a very fine whisper-weft interfacing to stabilize it.

Hopefully someone else will have more idea…..

Stabilisation is a great idea. I’ll cut it and see how I go. If the stretching is too bad, I’ll use some interface. Thanks.
