Cuff Facing for Builing Block Dress

I am sewing this dress for the first time for my eight year old daughter. The 1 inch cuff facing is just too small for a half inch seam and quarter inch fold over. I resized it to 1 3/8 but am curious what this measurement should be. Thanks
