Buying a pattern for one view – making the other.

Hello ladies, I am probably not alone in this. I often buy patterns because I really like and plan on doing one particular view that appeals to me. Yet I am often surprised at how it turns out. I bought the afterschool for the top, which I've never made. Swore I wouldn't make those pants, and I've made 4 or 5 pairs, but no top. My favorite pants ever. I bought the hopscotch to make the skirt because of those pockets. I knew I wouldn't ever touch knit, and I've only made the knit dresses and never the skirt. I bought the butterfly for the shirt and I made the skirt (OMG SO EASY-loved it). I did modify the skirt and make the adjustable waist on the back and used those hopscotch pockets on the back for back pockets. Isn't it funny how you have intentions, but the fabric and patterns talk you into a different course. And you know it is true, they speak to us. ;)
