Another snap problem

I made a denim version which came out great. I added a magnetic snap–the kind for purses. The magnet is so strong it takes some effort to open. But now I need to add a second one to have the jacket hang properly.

Any ideas to weaken the magnet? I had considered tucking the magnet on the facing inside the fabric. You would see the two small slits, but only on the facing.

I’ve been driving myself nuts trying to think of a solution.

Could you glue a small circle of felt over the magnet?

According to Hugo the magnet will become less so as it is heated and knocked about, therefore general wash and wear should make it weaker.

    Thank you. Thank you.

I took the idea of felt and stitched a rectangle of quilting cotton over the two snaps on the facing. They still attract, but don’t hold tightly. It looks neat and can be removed if the magnets weaken.
