With a possible free dress day at school on Friday, my eldest has requested a city stroll skirt to wear. So the aim today is to trace the pattern and possibly cut ready to sew. Looks like sewing for me is on the backburner again!

All of my girls, plus me wear them. I can still wear kid sizes, so I can have a pair too. So far they have been to the beach, hiked mountains, to the pool, to the bayou, and have survived.

Oh, that is wonderful, what a great look head to toe.

I happily buy ‘good’ second hand shoes for my girls as they have generally been worn only lightly and the previous owner has not changed the foot bed of the shoe. I have also purchased second hand Saltwater sandals and let my girls wear them in the sea and then walk around until they are dry so they soften and shape to their foot.

I finished the Lisette Attache peplum top in neoprene (scuba knit) for Elsa.

Good point! But how do you explain this? I click on a photo and comment. The photo is in the flickrpool for the group. I click after commenting and go back to the pool to look at other photos. The first photo has completely disappeared!

Wow it’s been a while since I posted here! Summer has been busy and I’ve been sewing less. I’m finally starting on the Lisette Moto dress I cut out months ago in Cotton + Steel rayon, I need to finish it before the weather cools down!

Once that’s done I’ve got a couple Gallery tunics and Ben’s Goldstream pea coat next in the queue, along with…[Read more]

Thank you everyone for your feedback. I’m sold! There are online auctions I’m watching for some really good quality second hand pairs that close this Thursday, so hopefully I will be able to get those. Otherwise I will be ordering some brand new ones that will come direct to me all the way from the States. I will have to wait three weeks for them…[Read more]

I donate our old ones to a local church thrift store. They sell locally what they can and send the others that are still useable, but maybe not sellable, to poorer countries where they give them for free.

Maybe I need to encourage shoes of prey to do a children’s line also. They say they are going to branch in to the mens shoes but I think it would be more fun designing shoes for kids with interestingly fitting feet.

All I know is that I grew out of women’s sizes in “normal” shoe shops when I was 12! It was not fun and I had an awful time finding…[Read more]

I almost always buy new shoes for my girls but sometimes will buy second hand if I come across used shoes that are still in very good condition and for a good price. I do that via an online auction website called TradeMe (the New Zealand equivalent of eBay). I haven’t sold any of my girls shoes yet, they just get passed on to friends with younger…[Read more]
