Using Thread Snips
These basic thread snips make quick work of clipping the tails from your seams or removing stray threads as you sew. When you’re finished with your sewing project, these are also useful for removing any dangling threads.
In the Oliver + S studio, we use these for clipping seam allowances on light- to medium-weight fabrics and for marking notches. I usually mark my notches with just a little clip at the location of the notch, and these are great for that purpose.
So that I always have a pair of these handy, I buy them in bulk and keep a jar of them next to the sewing machine.
A Note on Color
Because of the finishing process used by the manufacturer, the color of these thread snips is variable. Colors range from green to blue, and many contain both colors. We like this variegated finish, and we want you to be aware that the pair you purchase may be a slightly different color than the one pictured here.

I was so excited when Oliver+S started stocking these. I nearly stood on head and wiggled my toes! I 'inherited' a pair when I purchased my second hand industrial overlocker and fell in love with them. I searched everywhere for another pair but to no avail, I guess they are usually a professional tool. Perfect to leave next to your machine, they are less likely to 'walk' as they are not actually scissors. Very sharp and quick to use. I love them for safely cutting button holes, especially in sheer fabrics. If you are placing an order DEFINITELY add a couple of pairs to your cart.
