    perfect boy pattern
Reviewed by (Verified Buyer) on 08/31/2015
I truly love this pattern. I made the short sleeve shirt with the collar. Together with the bermudas the outfit came out really nice and both the parents of the boy I made it for as well as the boy (4 years) loved it! I will make this many times more.

I love this pattern. Easy to follow, goes together beautifully and has a professional look. I made both views and am starting on my 3rd shirt. I love both views. The shorts are wonderful and go together easily. Highly recommend this pattern..

Yes. I love it. However, I do wish it were more affordable and I hope that in the future, there are more boy patterns. Girl patterns overrun the entire pattern industry :( I grab boy patterns wherever I can due to the fact that they are so rare.

This is my second copy of the Sketchbook shirt, I wore out the first one! As always, a workhorse pattern that I used for our son's Christmas show shirt, long sleeves and band collar options.

    Sketchbook Shirt & Shorts
    Reviewed by on 09/03/2014
I was very impressed with how quickly I got my Pattern Order!! I missed your 1/2 Price Sale last year and made sure that I was ready for this year. I ordered 6 Paper Patterns and got all 6 in 2 days! I've already made 2 pairs of the Shorts and am currently working on 2 of the Short Sleeve Shirts. I've used a combination of the pattern instructions and the On-line tutorial done by the wonderful Nicole from her Blog - Five & Counting. I did add an inch to the Size 2 & 3 Shirts after reading in your Discussion for the Sketchbook Pattern that it runs short. I'm sewing Long Distance for my Great Nephews and Nieces so I will be waiting on feed back for the sizing as soon as I get them in the Mail.

    Very easy, handsome shorts
    Reviewed by on 09/02/2014
Took me very little time to sew these size 4T shorts up in a sturdy gray/white striped seersucker. The directions were complete and easy to follow. Would like to have instructions for using buttonhole elastic to make waist adjustable as I sew 6-12 months ahead of when they will be worn, and hate to have to guess on the waist measurement.

The Quickest 'Proper' Boys Shirt you will ever Sew
    Reviewed by on 07/28/2013
I am sure this pattern was designed just for me! My favourite O+S pattern and my most utilised by far. The shirt is so snappy with all the details of a 'proper' shirt but a clever one piece collar to save time. The yoke attachment has to be 'sewn' to be believed, so clever and no unsightly seams. Do take note of the pattern illustration. This shirt is styled to finished at the waistband of the shorts, if you wish it to tuck, you must add length. This is simple to do, I added length at the side seam notches. I made many sharp versions for my son and now my teenage twin daughters wear them as well as having had linen versions made for them selves http://fiveandcounting-motherof5.blogspot.com.au/2013/03/sophisticated-sketchbook.html I have a full tute here http://fiveandcounting-motherof5.blogspot.com.au/2012/04/sketchbook-shirt-tutorial-part-1.html including a nifty way to get the collar to fit if the seam allowance of the yoke seams was a little off. (Mine often is) The shorts? What haven't I made with that pattern. Trousers, jeans (skinny&bootleg) for my son AND my daughters. See here http://www.flickr.com/photos/motherof5/sets/72157625212212623/ I loved this pattern so much that when my son grew out of them as a pull on short, I added a zip fly so he could keep wearing the style. http://www.flickr.com/photos/motherof5/8053039166/in/set-72157625212212623 I cannot say enough good things about this pattern. It is a must! In fact, I ordered a second copy to keep as a back up.

  • Errata

    1. On both size ranges in the first printing, the cutting layout for view B includes piece #9, the Sleeve Placket, which is only needed for view A.
    2. In the first printing, please note that piece #13, the Shorts Back, is missing seam allowances for sizes 6, 7, 8, 10 and 12. (Other sizes are not affected.) This is easy to remedy: draw a line 1/2" from the printed cutting line to create a new cutting line, as shown below.

    3. In the first printing, for sizes 6-12M, 12-18M, and 18-24M, pieces #13, #14 and #15 are missing seam allowances. Add 1/2" from the printed cutting line on each of these pieces as shown in the illustration above.
    4. In the first printing on the size 6M-4 pattern sheet, piece #4, the Shirt Yoke, has size lines with incorrect labels at the neck and shoulder edge. The piece should read as follows.

    5. In the first printing, on the size 6M-4 pattern sheet, piece #11, the Short Sleeve, has size lines with incorrect labels at the lower edge. The piece should read as follows.

    6. In the first printing, on the size 5-12 pattern sheet, piece #1 has size lines with incorrect labels on one side. The inner-most line should be labeled Size 5. The size labels printed in two other locations on this pattern piece are correct.

    Determining Which Printing You Have

As errata are discovered, they are marked for correction in subsequent printings of the pattern.

To determine which printing of an instruction sheet or pattern sheet you have, look at the copyright box which appears on each. Toward the bottom of the box, there is a series of numbers.

The lowest number you see there indicates which printing you have. For example, if the lowest number in the box on the instruction sheet is "2," you have an instruction sheet from the second printing. Any errors in the instructions mentioned for the first printing have been corrected in your version. If the lowest number in the box on the pattern sheet is "1," you have a copy of the pattern sheet from the first printing.

Pattern sheets and instructions sheets can be printed separately, so be sure to check the errata notices for pattern pieces against the printing number on the pattern sheet and errata notices for instructions against the printing number on the instruction sheet.
