Happy December! I trust you have the holiday decorations all set up in your shop already and that you're finding your customers in the holiday spirit.

These days we're busy in the studio putting the finishing touches on the instructions and illustrations for our Spring-Summer 2012 release which will begin shipping in early April. I know you and your customers will enjoy sewing what we're working on right now.

In this month's newsletter, we tell you about the new retail posters we are making available to you and fill you in on a nice rebate program that you might be interested in sharing with your customers.

Sleepover Pajamas

Perhaps you've seen the ads featuring our Fall-Winter 2011 styles in recent issues of American Quilt Retailer and FabShop News.

We've now turned these ads into digital files that you can download from our website to use in promoting the patterns in your store.

Go to the new posters page in the wholesale section of the Oliver + S website to see all four new poster styles.

From this page you can download copies of PDF files that are sized to be printed on standard 8 1/2 x 11 inch paper. Simply print the files on your color printer and use the images as you see fit. They can be made into either hanging or standing tabletop displays. Or you can place them by your selection of Oliver + S patterns to inspire your customers.

Apparel Sewing Basics

Have you seen the new instructional videos that Liesl has filmed with Interweave? 

These two 90-minute videos feature tips, tricks, and techniques that will be of interest to both the beginning and advanced apparel seamstresses who shop with you.

Apparel Sewing Basics shows how to properly prepare to sew by gathering the right tools, selecting and pre-washing fabric, and preparing the pattern pieces. Then Liesl demonstrates all the basic seam techniques featured in most patterns from sewing curved and corner seams to gathering and ease stitching.

Seams, Closures + Hems teaches the more accomplished seamstress how to finish seams with flat-fell, French, and bias-bound seams for a professional looking garment inside and out. It also covers how to install invisible, centered, and lapped zippers, along with general tips to ensure foolproof zippers every time. Liesl also shows how to make perfect buttonholes for every button type and the proper way to sew on buttons. Finally, she demonstrates how to finish hems using top-stitched, curved, and hand-stitched hems.

The videos are now available to you at wholesale both through Interweave's retailer program and through major distributors like Checker. Suggested list price for each video is $24.95.

Through the month of December, Interweave is offering consumers a $5 rebate on their purchase of Interweave products, including these videos, made through your store. You can contact your Interweave sales person for details, and you can download a copy of the rebate form to give to your customers from our website.
