I'm so pleased to announce our new Spring-Summer2010 patterns! The patterns will begin shipping on April 1 to retailers who place pre-orders. (You may download a wholesale pre-order form from our website.) The official release date for consumers is Monday, April 5.
This season, we have three new patterns--two outfits for girls and one for boys. And, because so many of our customers have requested it, we have expanded sizing for these styles. Each pattern comes in two size ranges. The smaller package now includes sizes 6M - 4, and the larger includes sizes 5 - 12.
Our newsletter this month provides you with a first view of the three new styles. All this month on the Oliver + S blog we will be publishing posts that go into detail (with many more photos) on the different options available in each pattern. Be sure to check in often to see what we've prepared for you and your customers!
Cheers,
Liesl

The Ice Cream Dress pattern allows your customers to create a stylish, loose-fitting pull-on smock dress or blouse.
All three views included in the pattern feature an interesting one-piece V-notch yoke on the front and a button loop closure at the back neck.
View A (pictured here) includes a double-thickness hem and matching pockets. We've made several dresses in this view using a variety of colors and prints, and we've been very happy with how they've all turned out. We'll show you more images of this view on the blog shortly.
View B is a color-blocked dress of the same style. When we first made this view during the product development process, we chose brown, pink, and white solids. The resulting dress reminded us of a cool bowl of Neapolitan ice cream, which in turn inspired the name for the dress.
View C is a blouse-length version that pairs nicely with a skirt or shorts during warm summer months.
For this pattern we are suggesting the use of light- to medium-weight wovens such as quilting cotton, broadcloth, lawn, shirting, poplin, fine-wale corduroy, silk taffeta or dupioni, and linen.
We've rated this pattern as two of four scissors on our scale of difficulty. It goes together quickly and is a pleasure to sew.

With the Sketchbook Shirt and Shorts pattern, your customers can make a classic summer outfit for their boys or girls. We're sure that they will make great use of this shirt pattern for school, play, or more formal occasions.
View A, the classic version of a child's shirt, includes a one-piece collar, long sleeves with cuffs, and a chest pocket.
View B provides flexibility for doing other variations on the shirt. This view features a band collar and short sleeves. Both styles include a button front placket and a shirt-tail hem.
The simple below-the-knee length shorts feature an elastic-waistband and mock fly for classic styling without the need for a zipper fly.
For this pattern, which is also rated as two of four scissors in difficulty, we suggest light- to medium-weight woven fabrics like quilting cotton, broadcloth, lawn, shirting, poplin, fine-wale corduroy, and linen for the shirt. For the shorts we recommend light- to medium-weight woven fabrics like denim, canvas, chambray, corduroy, twill, and linen.

The Music Class Blouse and Skirt is a clean, simple, and sophisticated outfit that's as appropriate for toddlers as it is for tweens.
The blouse features delicate pintucks at the front and back yoke and a button- or snap-closure front placket.
View A of the blouse includes sweet little pleated short sleeves and a classic blouse collar. View B has a band collar and long sleeves with cuffs. Your customers can mix and match collars and sleeve lengths for even more options.
The pull-on, elastic-waist skirt includes side panels with unusual pockets and a pleated hem insert.
For this outfit (which is another two scissors pattern), we suggest light- to medium-weight woven fabrics like quilting cotton, broadcloth, lawn, shirting, poplin, and linen for the shirt. For the skirt we recommend light- to medium-weight woven fabrics like quilting cotton, broadcloth, poplin, fine-wale corduroy, twill, denim, chambray, and linen.
Be sure to submit your pre-order for priority shipping before the new style's official release date. And check the blog all month for more detail on these patterns.
