If you use an American Express card, we’re giving you the opportunity to effectively receive two free Oliver + S paper patterns when you order from our website on Saturday, November 24, 2012.
In order to be eligible for the American Express statement credit, you need to pre-register your card. Registration opens today and will continue through the week until all slots are filled. To register, visit the Small Business Saturday website.
Once you have registered, here are the details you need to know.
- Visit our website on Saturday November 24, 2012 at any time before 11:59PM EST, and place a minimum of two Oliver + S paper patterns in your shopping bag.
- During check out, use coupon code SHOPSMALL. This code will reduce the net price of all Oliver + S paper sewing patterns in your cart to $12.50 each.
- Check out and pay for your order using your American Express card.
- After your order is placed, American Express will issue you a $25.00 statement credit.
And that’s it. You get two patterns shipped to you and you pay only the shipping and handling charge for your order.
Since someone is bound to ask, “Can I use my statement credit for other things on your site?” I’ll answer that right now. Yes, you can. You don’t need to use your statement credit for Oliver + S paper patterns. You can purchase anything you like from our website: Oliver + S digital patterns, a book, supplies and tools, Straight Stitch Society patterns, Lisette patterns, you name it. As long as your purchase is for more than $25, American Express will give you a $25 statement credit.
Don’t use an American Express card? Don’t worry. The coupon code listed above will work for you too, making the price of all our Oliver + S paper patterns $12.50 for the day. (A minimum purchase of two patterns is required to receive the discount.)

Does this also apply to the digital patterns? Or just the paper patterns?
The statement credit can be used to offset the cost of anything on our website on that day–including digital patterns. But the sale is only available on paper patterns.
I registered my card, but can’t seem to locate Oliver + S on their “find a shop” area of the website. Just thought I’d give you a heads up. Thanks so much for doing this – I love my O+S patterns!!!

Hi i was really excited when i received this email from yourselves! I tried to register my american express card but i think it’s only valid in America, I live in England (so saaad)!! I love Oliver and s patterns, I have quite a collection, please keep up the good work and thank you.
I went to register my card, but it seems this offer is not applicable to online purchases? The fine print reads: “2. Use your enrolled Card to spend $25 or more in a single, in-store transaction at a qualifying small business location on November 24, 2012. For information about qualifying small business locations, visit ShopSmall.com.”
Maria, the offer is indeed good for shopping with us on that day. We participated last year and we are enrolled again to participate this year. You can confirm that we participate by searching for us under our corporate name which is Liesl and Co Inc. The address shown is our studio, but you don’t need to purchase onsite. Web purchases are eligible as well.
I used it successfully last year and plan on using it again this year. Just registered my card! 🙂
Is this offer only for US resident?
I’m not sure what restrictions Amex places on the $25 statement credit. But the coupon code discount we provide is available to anyone, regardless of location.
