wish you were here, love, flat s

It appears that Flat S is continuing her travels around Australia. And it looks like she’s had a great time along the Gold Coast with Peta Sutherland and her family. You can see some of Peta’s work on Flickr and find out more about her on her blog, etcetera or whatever.

Flat S was thoughtful enough to drop us a postcard from her most recent stop. Here’s what she had to say.

G’day S, Liesl, Todd and Oliver + S aficionados,

After my visit with Mel in Geelong I decided to travel north to sunny Queensland to visit Peta and her family. Queensland is famous for the Great Barrier Reef, Daintree Rainforest, and its miles and miles and miles of beautiful beaches.

I arrived one bright sunny morning during the school holidays. I was surprised at how warm it was; after all it was only early spring.

Queensland is known for is its very high incidence of skin cancer so Missy made sure I was well protected with sunscreen before I went outside.

Chappy made me some sunglasses so I could laze around the pool, and I spent a few days just kicking back and relaxing.

No trip to Queensland is complete without a rainforest walk, and we drove about an hour up Mt. Tamborine to visit one of the family’s favorite walks. I was a bit freaked out driving on the wrong side of the road.

I had to stop to get a picture of me with this sign. We don’t see this back home!

When we got to the top we stopped at the lookout and watched some skydivers take off. The view went for miles.

The walk was beautiful with many enormous eucalyptus trees and palms that seemed to go up forever. I saw a water dragon, two scrub turkeys, and a wallaby.

At the halfway point we came to a beautiful waterfall which cooled the hot air.

Later in the week we went to one of Queensland’s beautiful beaches at Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast. It was a very hot day and there were lots and lots of people. We managed to find a quiet spot. We built sandcastles and went body surfing.

I had a fabulous time in Queensland, and I can’t wait to share my next adventure with you all!

Wish you were here, love, Flat S xxxx
