summer sewing

Usually I try to check in on the Oliver + S Flickr group every couple of days. It’s always amazing to me how many new photos show up, because you’re a prolific group of sewists!

I’ve been traveling for the past couple of weeks and haven’t checked in regularly. When I did, I was floored at the number of adorable photos that made an appearance during my absence. I thought it would be fun to show off a few of them.

Thejennigirl sews for all three of her children. I love her version of the Birthday Party Dress as well as the coordinating Tea Party Sundress and Playsuit and the Sketchbook Shirt.

Here is another Tea Party Playsuit in a cute bicycle print, sewn by SewMummy.

And below is another Tea Party Sundress in some fun coordinating prints, sewn by Mama_Knowles03.

The fabric and print on this Family Reunion Dress, sewn by kmac0107, are just perfect for summer, aren’t they? I love how the print is scattered across the hem. It keeps the print from being too busy and compliments the pattern perfectly.

Our free patterns make great summer outfits. Here is the Ruffled Halter, sewn up by Queen of the Flies and paired with the Puppet Show shorts. I think this print is perfect for the halter, and I love how it pairs nicely with the linen shorts

And how great is this Popover Sundress? This was part of a “Craft-off” and was sewn by Dana. You can see more photos and read the hilarious commentary over at Cry it Out. And really, who can possibly choose between the two competing dresses?

If you’re starting to think about fall sewing, you might be interested in this Jump Rope Dress, which is a great transitional piece. I love the colors and the print. (I’m seeing a lot of Jay McCarroll prints here, did you notice?) This one was sewn by Creative Pursuits.

Since the southern hemisphere has already had their autumn, Nicole has been sewing all sorts of adorable cool-weather clothing for her five children and is starting to think about spring and summer again. I love her version of the 2+2 blouse paired with the Music Class skirt (first picture) as well as the Class Picnic blouse made in Italian wool (second picture).

Jeanne at NightKnitter is busy making school uniforms for her daughter. She’s included little surprises in these dresses by using prints and color for the facings and linings. That should make dressing for school a little more interesting and fun!

And I adore the fabric and toggles on this School Days raincoat made by Roubidou.

I can’t get over this Sailboat Shirt, embellished by Annaarbit. Isn’t that applique fantastic? Love the 3-D tutu.

And speaking of tutus, there have been lots of great items from our book, Little Things to Sew.

Aren’t these dreamy? The top tutu was sewn by Mosie Made and the tutu on the bottom was made by Bobaduncan.

The Reversible Bucket Hat has been a very popular project this summer. I love this one by Jojoling and wonder who that is in the sporty red and white stripes underneath it?

And one more I just have to share. Isn’t this a sweet photo of the birthday girl recipient of this Bear Carrier gift? I love the shots that followed, which you can see over at Coffees and Milkies.

Thanks for sharing your photos, and I hope you’re having a wonderful, relaxing and creative summer!
